victoriaHere is my author interview with Victoria Danann for A Paranormal Reckoning Event. Make sure to check out her Knights of Black Swan Series. Grab your copy today starting with My Familiar Stranger which is FREE on Amazon and book one in her series!

What is the one thing that you like best about writing and reading paranormal books?
PNR is TRUE fantasy in the sense that alternate, and usually preferable, realities are created.

What paranormal creature is your favorite to read about and why?
Non-shifting hybrids that remain mostly human, but enhanced. Fascinating. Captivating. Check out my series, EXILED.

What is one thing about the paranormal genre that you think stands out from other genres in the book world?
The opportunity to answer the question that has been foremost in the minds of men from Greek philosophers to Freud. What do women want? PNR answers that question with males who mate for life and only have eyes for you.

What free tool or option do you think more authors should utilize? WordKeeperAlpha

What is one piece advice would you give to new authors just starting out?
Do not publish until you’re positive it’s a great book, with a great cover, and error-free.

Do you have a favorite place that you like to read in your home?

If you could have any type of mythical creature for a pet what would you choose and why?
Black cat as true familiar. To explain why you would have to understand the practice of witchcraft and how familiars figure in.

If readers could only identify you using one word about you and your books what word do you think they would choose and why?
Brilliant. The first few years I was too bashful to accept that compliment, but I’m beginning to get used to it now. I think readers used that adjective for two reasons. First, because none of my books are like any other books, not even my own other books. 2. Second, because I have an M.A. in psychology and have been a lifelong student of behavior, my characters are real, genuine, and in-depth.

Have you ever had something happen that could be a paranormal occurrence that you could not explain?
Many, many, many, many times. I always go back to the first such occurrence. I was two years old and still sleeping in a baby bed. We lived in a fairytale stone cottage on a hillside on the edge of a forest and, because there was only one bedroom, I was sleeping in the same room as my parents. I woke during the night to see a tall, hairy anthropoid creature come out of the closet. He stood in the dim light of the room and stared at me for a few minutes. I looked over to see if my parents were alarmed, but they were sleeping soundly. I never had any sense of threat or danger. After a time, he simply turned and left by way of the closet from which he came. Let me add that we did not have a TV, nor did we go to movies. So this was not a case of having seen something similar on screen.

Depending on how many current paranormal books that you have on the market which one would you suggest new readers start with?
The first book in my Knights of Black Swan series, winner of BEST PARANORMAL ROMANCE SERIES the past three years in a row. The first book is My Familiar Stranger and can be downloaded to your favorite electronic reader for free HERE!

Multi Author, Multi Day, Multi Genre Book Bash Author Interview – Victoria Danann

victoriaHere is my author interview with the talented author Victoria Danann for the Multi Author, Multi Day, Multi Genre Book Bash – day one which is featuring vampire authors. She is the author of the popular Knights of Black Swan Books so make sure to check them out today. If you are new to the series you can get book one My Familiar Stranger for FREE!

How long have you been a fan of vampires and do you have a favorite from the movies or books?
I wouldn’t say I’ve been a fan exactly, but I’ve been interested in vampires since before Anne Rice wrote the Lestat book. And, yes, my favorite vampire is Angel from “Buffy” because of the excruciatingly agonizing element of being a vampire aware of wrongdoing.

How many books do you currently have on the market that have a vampire in them?

What inspired you to write your first vampire book and what can readers expect to find once they read it?
The first book of the Knights of Black Swan series is a story created in my childhood fantasies. Over the decades the characters, settings, and depth changed, but the core of the story is almost as old as memory.

If vampires really existed and you could choose to become one but had to leave the life as you currently know it behind would you do it yes or no and why?
Absolutely not. I’m on team vampire slayer.

Would you say that vampires are your favorite paranormal being and why or why not?
No. My favorite paranormals are demons.

If your vampire book(s) were to be turned into a movie and you could choose who would play the role as one of your leading vamps who would you choose and what role is it that they would play?
Travis Fimmel would have been perfect as Rammel Hawking when he was younger. I would still use him, but would cast him in the role of Solomon Nemamiah.

When it comes to vampires do you prefer yours as many of the old legends and myths speak of them or how TV has changed them over the years?
I prefer vampires with a conscience.

Are there any specific vampire authors that you enjoy reading that have made your favorites list?
Anne Rice, but for the book that features a demon. Memnoch the Devil

When it comes to your own vampire books what is one thing that you do to ensure that they are unique and will stand out against other books within the same genre?
There are numerous reasons including the fact that vampirism is explained scientifically. The fact that the first book in the series, My Familiar Stranger, has collected over 3500 reviews across retail outlets attests to that fact. (BTW – It’s free everywhere.)

Any big plans or projects planned for 2016 that you would like to share with us?
I have released the eighth book in my Knights of Black Swan series and will be releasing number nine the end of this month. In addition I will be releasing the second book in the series EXILED and starting a new witches series in the fall. I could tell you the name of it, but have learned that shortly after I release titles and covers, extremely similar titles and covers begin popping up on Amazon. So now I keep them under wraps as long as I can.

What do you think is one of the biggest misconceptions that people have about writers in general?
That we get paid more than we do.

If you could change something within the author/reader community what would you change and why?
Other than trolls targeting authors when they reach a certain level of success, I can’t think of anything I’d change.

Who is your biggest supporter?
My assistant, Sarah Nicole Blausey. She named her first child after one of my Black Swan knights.

Of all the books that you have written are any of them based on real life experiences?
Yes, but loosely. Real experiences are in there like a house of mirrors. They’ve been enlarged, reduced, stretched up, down, and sideways.

What advice would you give to new authors that are just starting out?
Go Indie, think long term, and give your audience time to find you.
