Multi Author, Multi Day, Multi Genre Book Bash Author Interview – Danielle DeVor

danielleHere is my author interview with the talented author Danielle DeVor for the Multi Author, Multi Day, Multi Genre Book Bash – day one which is featuring vampire authors. She has several books out including Tail of the Devil which is book one in The Mathias Saga Book Series so make sure to check it out today.

How long have you been a fan of vampires and do you have a favorite from the movies or books? My entire life. I started out with the Count from Sesame Street and never looked back. Favorite book vampire is Anne Rice’s Lestat. Favorite movie vampire is probably Kurt Barlow from Salem’s Lot.

How many books do you currently have on the market that have a vampire in them?
Tail of the Devil, The Devil’s Liege, and several of the short stories within Strange Darkness contain vampires.

What inspired you to write your first vampire book and what can readers expect to find once they read it?
People had been telling me for years that I needed to write a book, and logically, it would be vampires since I am kind of known for my love of them. What came out was harsh and gritty with some humor.

If vampires really existed and you could choose to become one but had to leave the life as you currently know it behind would you do it yes or no and why?
Probably not. Living forever isn’t all it is cracked up to be.

Would you say that vampires are your favorite paranormal being and why or why not?
Definitely. There are so many types of them. They are powerful and yet still have emotion. They are fascinating. 🙂

If your vampire book(s) were to be turned into a movie and you could choose who would play the role as one of your leading vamps who would you choose and what role is it that they would play?
There is an actor named Ben Barnes who would be perfect for Mathias, I think. He has these haunted blue eyes.

When it comes to vampires do you prefer yours as many of the old legends and myths speak of them or how TV has changed them over the years?
It depends. I do like soulful vampires, however there is nothing better than a good vs. evil trope and vampires do that so very well. I don’t think TV has changed them. Literature sure has though. Without Anne Rice, there would be no vampire paranormal romance.

Are there any specific vampire authors that you enjoy reading that have made your favorites list?
Richard Matheson and Anne Rice

When it comes to your own vampire books what is one thing that you do to ensure that they are unique and will stand out against other books within the same genre?
I try to incorporate bits of folklore from around the world that isn’t commonly used. And, I make sure my vamps have wings. Most people don’t use them.

Any big plans or projects planned for 2016 that you would like to share with us?
I’m working on an unusual gem of a book that deals with ballet, a curse, and a pair of shoes.
