Paranormal Author Takeover Interview – Michael Glover

MichaelHere is the interview that I had the pleasure of doing with Michael Glover for the VF Presents Paranormal Author Takeover Event. Thank you Michael for doing the interview with me.

What made you choose to write in the paranormal genre?
From a very young age the paranormal genre has excited, intrigued, and scared me; it left an impact that has shaped my writing. The vampire held a special place that started with Halloween at an early age, to books, and movies that showed a great variety of worlds within the genre. I wanted to add my world to this magnificently diverse and beloved story line.

How many books do you currently have available in the paranormal genre and what are the titles?
I currently have my debut novel, saint Sebastian The Rose Book One The Lonely Tower Series

What is your favorite paranormal creature and why?
The vampire for sure, it’s part human, part monster that lives in the dark; a place that always scared me as a kid. The vampire was so many things: intelligent, conflicted, monstrous, and elusive.

If you could live in any paranormal book what book and character would you choose?
I would have to say Salem’s Lot by Stephen King; loved it. I would have to be Ben Mears; the author turned vampire hunter. How awesome. I’m an author, now I just need to become a vampire hunter.

Can you share information with us any projects that you are currently working on?
I am currently working on Book Two & Book Three of The Lonely Tower Series.

What do you think is one of the biggest misconceptions that people have about writers in general?
Easy, that we will be rich. If only that were true but we all know it’s not about getting rich. We write because of something deep down; call us crazy.

If you could change something within the author/reader community what would you change and why?
That is hard because I am a new author, I have always been the reader. As a reader I wish I had left more reviews for the books I have read. I feel bad for not doing that, I understand the importance now as an author. Review review review.

Who is your biggest supporter?
There really isn’t one. I am thankful to have many between family and friends. I really am not avoiding the question, there are too many people that have been there since the beginning who loved the story and have kept at me to get it out there and here it is.

Of all the books that you have written are any of them based on real life experiences?
Well, so far there is only one finished, another almost there, and five others…in paranormal, fantasy, and fiction, that I have extensive notes on…and yes there are parts of me in them. There is not one that is completely me, yet.

What advice would you give to new authors that are just starting out?
Write. Don’t be afraid. It won’t be perfect. It will never be perfect; not even after twenty edits, but it will be worth it. The feeling of getting to the end is amazing and in between when you have those moments of magic…well, it’s hard to describe.
