Paranormal Author Takeover Interview – Lauralynn Elliott

LauralynnHere is the interview that I had the pleasure of doing with Lauralynn Elliott for the VF Presents Paranormal Author Takeover Event. Thank you Lauralynn for doing the interview with me.

What made you choose to write in the paranormal genre?
I’ve loved everything paranormal since I was a kid. I would come home from school every day and watch Dark Shadows with my grandmother. So it was natural to write in that genre.

How many books do you currently have available in the paranormal genre and what are the titles?
I have 12 paranormal titles. The titles are Fire Wizard, Soul of a Vampire, Dark Relic, Secrets of the Wolf, Search for the Vampires’ Curse (those last three are included in a trilogy combined into one book called Vampires’ Curse), Hearts of Evil, Haunted Lake, The Gnome, A Rocky Path, Club Blood, See Me, Guardian Vampire,

What is your favorite paranormal creature and why?
I think it’s a toss up between vampires and ghosts.
I think vampires are very complex creatures, and I like that. Ghosts are just eerie. 🙂

If you could live in any paranormal book what book and character would you choose?
Can I pick my own book? I would love to be Libby Fox in the Vampires’ Curse trilogy.

Can you share information with us any projects that you are currently working on?
I’m currently working on a sequel to Soul of a Vampire. The title will be Keeper of His Soul. Readers wanted to know more about the main female character’s best friend from Soul of a Vampire, so this is her story.

What do you think is one of the biggest misconceptions that people have about writers in general?
That we are all introverted and socially awkward. Each writer is different. I’m a little more on the extroverted side.

If you could change something within the author/reader community what would you change and why?
I wish readers would realize how grateful we truly are for their support, reviews, and word of mouth advertising. And authors should express that more often, I think. Without readers, where would we be?

Who is your biggest supporter?
My mom.

Of all the books that you have written are any of them based on real life experiences?
Definitely not. Everything I write is in my imagination. My life is much more boring than my books.

What advice would you give to new authors that are just starting out?
Don’t expect to make loads of money, but don’t give up! Don’t read bad reviews if they will discourage you. And never respond to reviews.
